Dr. Tzi-Cker Chiueh

  • Biography

Dr. Chiueh joined Delta in 2021 and currently leads the Delta Research Center in developing advanced technologies and product-grade application services and solutions in the areas of smart manufacturing, artificial intelligence, information security protection, wireless communication sensing, energy storage management software, unmanned vehicles, and life sciences.

Dr. Chiueh had served as General Director of the Information and Communications Research Laboratories of ITRI, Director of Core Research at Symantec Research Labs of Symantec Corporation in the U.S., and as a full professor at the Computer Science Department of Stony Brook University (SUNY) in New York. During his tenure at ITRI, Dr. Chiueh lead and completed several major projects with wide industrial impacts in cloud systems management software, 5G communications protocol stack, perception engine for autonomous-driving vehicles, and AI accelerators.

Dr. Chiueh graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Taiwan University, and received a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. He specializes in large-scale system software, information and communication security technologies, and computer and network system architectures. Dr. Chiueh has published more than 220 seminar and journal papers. He has also received several best paper awards from internationally recognized institutions, including the U.S. National Science Foundation Career Award, the 2013 TECO Award, the 2016 IEEE Test of Time Paper Award, the 2017 Pan Wen Yuan Outstanding Research Award, and the 2019 Medal of the Year from the Chinese Institute of Engineers.

Impacts of Heterogeneous Integration Technology on Electronics Systems Design

Heterogeneous integration technology such as SiP has seen rapid developments in recent years, not only because it offers a More-than-Moore path to IC scale-up, but also enables system-level miniaturization and optimization that was heretofore not considered possible. In this talk, I will cover some of the SiP advances and their applications observed in our own industry segment: power electronics, network switches and wireless communication base stations.
